Thomas M. Hancock, MAI

Regional Director

Thomas M. Hancock, MAI, serves as Regional Director for Murphy Appraisal Services. Mr. Hancock joined Murphy Appraisal Services in 2010. In October of 2018, the Appraisal Institute awarded Mr. Hancock the MAI designation, which is the highest level of designation awarded in the appraisal industry globally. Mr. Hancock is the currently Vice President and President-Elect for the Louisiana Chapter of the Appraisal Institute.

Mr. Hancock is recognized as one of the foremost experts in appraising and valuing income producing properties in the Gulf Coast region of the United States. His main areas of expertise are appraisal for financing, estate planning and settlement, private transactions, and serving as an expert witness in litigation. In addition to appraisal practice, Mr. Hancock also serves as a real estate consultant to various private clients, is a licensed real estate agent with 10/12 Properties, and is a former contributor for Inside New Orleans Magazine.

Mr. Hancock is a Nashville, Tennessee native, where he attended Montgomery Bell Academy. He graduated from University of Tennessee, where he majored in marketing and logistics and minored in operations management. While in college, he served as president of Kappa Sigma Fraternity and also served as a student senator on the University of Tennessee Student Government.

Mr. Hancock enjoys dual residency in Uptown New Orleans and the River Ranch neighborhood of Lafayette. He enjoys running, playing golf, University of Tennessee athletics, New Orleans Saints football, New Orleans cuisine and Mardi Gras. Mr. Hancock is an active parishioner of Holy Name of Jesus Church, and a volunteer committee member with American Cancer Society, Audubon Nature Institute, and The National World War II Museum.
